The Beginning - August 2001
One Day Katie decided that she needed to get out and do more, she had to start moving more. It is sad, but she could not go walk for her and her body, she needed a reason. She was talking to a friend at work that had walked in an Avon 3-day walk. She now had a goal: get in shape and walk in an Avon 3-day Breast Cancer Walk. She hit the web and signed up for the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Days - San Francisco 2002 walk. She and Bob started the training. They set up a four day a week training schedule, Tuesday and Thursday evening and Saturday and Sunday days. To start, it was 3 miles each time. Bob got out his GPS and started tracking their walks. The GPS measures distance, overall speed, average moving speed, moving time, stopped time, overall time and a few other things. It has been a great help figuring out where to walk and how far.
