March 2002

Katie stretched something in the top of her foot in late February, it took a couple of weeks for us to realize what was going on. Her foot started to hurt more and more after walks. At first, we thought it was a shoe problem. After we figured out what was going on, we took some break time from walking. After about 10 days of not going on walks, Katie tells me one evening "I never thought I would hear myself say this, I want to go outside, I want to walk, I need to exercise, I am going nuts!" The next day we went to the Goodwill and picked up an old stationary bike for her, so she could cross train while her foot healed. We are back to walking four days a week and riding the stationary bike three or four days a week. Right now she is only riding for 20 minutes at a time, but she is slowly building up her time. Can you say sore bottom?
